SG Flensburg-Handewitt breathes a sigh of relief: After consecutive draws in the last four matches, Fordstadt won their last home match against ThSV Eisenach 36:31. Simone Pytlik was particularly impressive in this match. Kevin Moeller stopped 12 shots in his last home game. SG Flensburg-Handewitt first relied on Emil Jakobsen, Marko Grgic, Simon Pytlick, Niclas Kirkelökke, Domen Novak and the two left players Johannes Golla and Kevin Möller. ThSV Eisenach started with Vincent Büchner, Oskar Joelsson, Felix Aellen, Stephan Seitz, Gian Attenhöfer, Tillman Leu and Matija Spikic. Notably, Grgic scored three of Flensburg's five goals in the first six minutes against his old club. In open competition, the early lead changed frequently, but Fordstader maintained his hold. After a parry from Moller, Gola scored on a free kick in the 19th minute, making it the first two-goal lead (13:11). With his fifth goal, Grgic made it three goals in the 21st minute. After that, Sebastian Hinze blew the buzzer for his first timeout at 12:15. With this said, Thuringer returned to the contest. When the home team was in the double for 43 seconds, ThSV failed to grasp the contest (15:17, 26). Instead, SG built a three-goal lead, and Eisenach suffered another blow in the 28th minute: Captain Peter Walls was shown a red card based on video images, after a foul on Lasse Möller. The last two minutes of the first half made the difference. Flensburg took a 21:18 lead. In the second half, the home team faced an immediate five-minute goal-barrage, as Atiri also failed to score for six minutes, but nothing came of it. Instead, Jakobson scored at 23:19 in the 37th minute. But ThSV did not lose their potential: Aleksandar Capric and Aellen scored two goals to bring Eisenach back. After that, Thuringer stayed in the contest (26:24, 44). For the first time, when Kevin Moller stopped a dime in the 47th minute, SG regained a four-goal lead. With his tenth goal, Pytlik made it 31:26 in the 50th minute. The decision seemed clear, especially since Pytlik was still unstoppable in any way. With 33:29, he established his own personal record. ThSV lacked effectiveness in the final chances, so SG eventually won 36:31. The closing stages got even more emotional: 70 seconds before Ales Pajovic blew the buzzer for timeout. The SG coach declined to discuss the 35:30 mark. Instead, Gola and Moller were honored with a minute's standing ovation and speeches at the GP Joule Arena. Moeller, who is leaving SG after ten years in the Gujarati country, was teary-eyed.
