Malmö FF have signed Icelandic player Hlín Eiríksdóttir from Leicester City

Malmö FF have signed Iceland star Hlín Eiríksdóttir from Leicester City. The winger spent a year-and-a-half in the Midlands before moving to Italian side Fiorentina. 26-year-old Eiríksdóttir, who has played more than 50 times for Iceland, is full of experience in European football. Eiríksdóttir has previously played for Kristianstads DFF, Pita IF and Vallur. Malmö FF are currently sitting in third place in Damelsvenskan, level on points with AIK and trailing Hammarby and BK Häcken FF. Eiríksdóttir said that choosing Malmö was an easy decision for her. "There were a lot of reasons for me not to choose Malmö FF. It's a big and great club with good conditions and facilities. I like the way the team plays football, it's a pretty good idea after I talked to the coaches and watched a few matches." For Eiríksdóttir it will be her third appearance with the Swedish club to return to Malmö, which was a deciding factor in her selection. "It also feels good to move to Sweden. I've had great times in both Pita and Kristianstads and I think the move is good for me. It's tough and a lot of close matches, I like it a lot," she said. In a league with increasing investment and with the Swedish Europa Cup final in 2026 around the corner, there is a lot of excitement around Damelsvenskan. With three of Sweden's best teams also qualifying for the UEFA Women's Championship, and Malmö pushing for a third, it's an exciting time to be a part of this club.
