PEC Zwolle bid farewell to Thomas Buitink. The 26-year-old attacker has decided to end his professional career. Buitink said, 'I would like to say a big thank you to all the supporters and teammates who gave me support and positivity. It was a difficult but deliberate choice that I decided to leave professional football. But that's okay and I look forward to what the future holds. Thank you once again for all,' Buitink said through PEC channels. Buitink had a contract with the PEC until 2027 but decided to call it quits and leave professional sports. Technical manager Jerry Hamster said, 'We are relieved to terminate the contract with Thomas due to his decision to end his professional career. Buitink's decision to leave professional football is a difficult but very brave step, which we greatly appreciate. We respect this decision and thank Buitink for his service to PEC Zwolle and wish his family the best in the future.' Buitink isn't going to give up entirely. He will continue at Sparta Nikkor, which is in the third division.
