Iran captain Medhi Taremi has expressed his disappointment regarding FIFA and the World Cup, with his team yet again having to wait to reach the knockout stages. Iran thought they had scored a goal to move into second place against Egypt in Seattle on Friday night, but the goal was ruled out for offside by VAR. Iran even hit the goal post to complete a goal in this match but Egypt ended the match for a valuable point. Mo Salah and his team will now play against Australia in the next round, while Iran will be expected to emerge as a good third-place team. Taremi, who won and then missed a penalty in the first half, expressed dismay at FIFA and the tournament, particularly because of the Iran issue. Once again, the Iranian team had to fly from Seattle to their Mexican base in Tijuana at 12 midnight, leaving no time to rest after exhaustion. Taremi said, "We have to beg. We have been complaining about these things since the beginning. This World Cup is an emergency." He also called on FIFA president Gianni Infantino to do more for Iran. "We play our best, because we play for our people." Egypt, meanwhile, will play in the draw against Australia.
