Argentina have defended their world title brilliantly. This match against Algeria was a great day for Messi, when he scored three goals to create history. The match started with a colorful situation, where Messi scored in the fifth minute but it was disallowed for offside. Shortly after, Algerian Fares Chaibi's goal was also disallowed for offside.
In the seventh minute, Messi put Argentina ahead with a brilliant low kick from Rodrigo's Paul. In the first half, Chaibi and Messi showed their brilliance in the game, but Messi was saved in the dying moments of the game by Paley captain Simone Marciniak.

In the second week, Messi scored another goal, when he scored off the rebound of Luca Chidan's shot. Six minutes later, he lifted Luke upright, but Luke blocked his attempt. In the 76th minute, Messi completed his hat-trick, taking his feat to new heights. This made him partner with Miroslav Klose.
