Jonathan David also scored a hat-trick. Larin became the first Canadian player to score multiple goals in a single game at the World Cup. Canada's six goals are the most by a CONCAF country in a World Cup. "We showed the world who Canada is. A lot of players who came from nowhere showed their fight," Larin said. In the second half of this match, Ismail Kone suffered a serious injury, due to which he was often carried on a stretcher in the match. A serious injury to the corner hurt the team, but Larin also said that "Switzerland has us in front of us, the job is not done." Qatar received two red cards in this match, making them the first AFC team to receive two red cards in a single match.
